Siblings Kara and Jesse Huggins like most Canadians were both personally impacted by the government-imposed mandates and restrictions put in place during the COVID-19 Pandemic. They were forced out of work, school, and faced harassment for their vaccine status; it was those experiences that pushed them to become activists within the freedom community. They began attending and hosting local freedom rallies and events, and conducting interviews alongside other young adults for their former social media page “YegUnited” with the goal of waking more people up to the effects of these mandates, while simultaneously countering the mainstream media’s narrative (which was omitting, suppressing, and dismissing real stories of harm at the hands of the government). After publicly sharing their personal experiences, they became privy to countless atrocities that resulted from these tyrannical mandates and restrictions, and decided it was important for these stories to be documented, so they would no longer go unheard and would not be forgotten. Production on the film began in September 2022, with its official release being October 6, 2023.
